The Bowflag® is also sometimes referred to as a teardrop banner, a rectangular custom flag, a knife banner, or a custom feather flag. It is a flexible feather banner – both physically and in the number of ways it can be used. Setup is easy! Slide the print onto the pole set, secure your flag with the bungee cord and bungee cord tensioner, and place the pole set onto the base. Six sizes are available, and because all shapes use the same hardware, buying more pole sets or bases for a new shape is unnecessary. A base is required and there are different base options available for indoor, outdoors, flat surfaces, or grass. The optional Bowflag® carrying case makes it easy to store and transport. Our prints give you the maximum printing area, even allowing the pole sleeve to be printed on with your artwork, instead of using a solid color header tape pole sleeve that can detract from your image. Whichever size or shape option you choose, you will get the recognition you deserve. Let the Bowflag® do the work for you.
Our Bowflag® pole sets for sizes Medium, Large, and X-Large are made of Aviation-grade fiberglass, and can withstand winds up to 63mph when used with a Single-Reverse flag. The fitted poles prevent the Bowflag® from collapsing in bad weather. We tested the Bowflag® in a wind tunnel to prove its durability. It performed so well that we’re showing off the results. Check out the “Wind Speed Testing” tab for details.
Whether used as a trade show display, on a business campus, or as a roadside campaign, the Bowflag® makes your graphic visible. It uses a unique and eye-catching shape that stands out compared to other display solutions.
You can use your own custom artwork by uploading your graphic, or check out one of our Bowflag® Stock Designs. You will receive a free PDF proof emailed to you, and there is no printing setup fee. Our printing materials are polyester, vinyl, displaypoly, and photopaper. See the "Printing / Finishing" tab for material choices and information.
We want our customers to be assured that they’re buying strong,
quality prints and hardware from us, so we had our Bowflag® wind
tested to prove its strength.
The Bowflag® performs very well in windy conditions. In the XX-Small,
X-Small, and Small sizes, the Bowflag® can fly safely in speeds up to
25-30mph with a Single-Reverse flag. This is a 6 on the Beaufort Wind
Scale (bft), a system devised to measure wind speed and intensity.
With a Double-Sided flag, which is heavier and less air permeable, a
Bowflag® in the Small, X-Small, and XX-Small sizes are rated up to 17mph (4bft).
For sizes Medium, Large, and X-Large, a Single-Reverse print can be used in
winds up to an impressive 55-63mph (10bft). With a Double-Sided flag, the
Bowflag® can operate in up to 46mph (8bft) winds.
For the best results, we use the best quality materials with our prints and hardware. Our flags are printed using four-color-process digital printing technologies. We will match provided colors as close as possible, but for best results, specified Pantone colors are recommended.
The Bowflag® banners have two finishing options. In the product
configurator, you can choose which finishing style best suites your needs (This is the Select your Flag drop down option):
- Single-Reverse: An image is printed to one side, and it shows through to the opposite side as a mirror image.
- Double-Sided: Two separate prints are sewn together, pillow-case style, with a light-blocking inner liner.
This option produces heavier banners, but each side shows the image positively.
The Bowflag® product is printed on Polyflag Standard, a durable, recommended fabric for outdoor use.
It resists fraying, is flame retardant, and holds up well in various weather conditions.
Polyflag Standard
- Standard flag material
- Excellent through print for Single-Reverse flags and banners
- Flame retardant
- Excellent for outdoor flags and displays
Q: What is the standard, or most common, Bowflag® size?
A: The "Medium" size is the most popular and most commonly requested size.
Q: What is the most common shape?
A: The “concave” flag shape is the most wanted option.
Q: How does the flag connect to the pole?
A: The flag is sewn in a way where the flag material forms a sleeve for
the pole to slide up inside the flag. At the top of the Bowflag® print is a strengthened area
for the tip of the pole to rest in when the Bowflag® is fully assembled. The print is then
fastened to the Pole Set with the included Bungee Cord, Bungee Cord Tensioner, and the Spring Snap.
Q: Can I interchange prints?
A: Yes. All flag shapes fit on the same hardware of that corresponding size.
For example, any Medium flag shape can fit on any Medium Bowflag® Pole Set.
Q: What is the percentage of through-print on the Bowflag®?
A: Using our Polyflag Standard material, and a finishing style of Single-Reverse, the through-print is around 95%.
Q: What is the difference between Single-Reverse finishing and Double-Sided finishing?
A: Single-Reverse: This means that an image is printed on one side of a material,
and shows through to the other side as a mirror image. Traditional flags are Single-Reverse. Overall
it is a good choice for simple images, logos and text. Our Polyflag Standard material has 95% through
print which results in a very color quality on both sides.
Double-Sided: To achieve this layout for a flag or banner, two prints of an image get sewn together (pillow –case style) with a light-blocking inner liner.
The finished product reads positively from both sides. We recommend this style if the image is very detailed and includes more text.
