Dubbed \u201cthe ultimate beer &amp; food pairing,\u201d this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paflavor.com\/\">Harrisburg beer fest<\/a> is the place to be if you want to know the up-and-comers in the industry.<\/p>\n<h2>Beer, wine and booze \u2013 oh my!<\/h2>\n<p>There were just about four dozen booze-makers on show, from local favorites like Troeg\u2019s, Zeroday Brewing and Ever Grain Brewing Co to more nationally-recognized companies like Samuel Adams and Yuengling. It wasn\u2019t just breweries, either. Distilleries like Tattered Flag and Midstate served up their own unique flavors of gin, rum and vodka.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_529\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-529\" style=\"width: 1008px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-529\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vispronet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Troegs.jpg\" alt=\"The Troegs tent in the center area of PA Flavor.\" width=\"1008\" height=\"756\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-529\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vispronet.com\/custom-pop-up-tents\">Troegs tent<\/a> was one of the most popular attractions at PA Flavor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Professional breweries and distilleries weren\u2019t the only ones who showed up, either. Home brewers and hobbyists were represented by the Regional Harrisburg Area Brewers and the State College Home Brew Club.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re more interested in the \u201cfood\u201d part of the PA Flavor slogan, don&#8217;t worry. More than two dozen restaurants showed up, with foods ranging from burger bites to boneless wings.<\/p>\n<h2>Food on parade at PA Flavor<\/h2>\n<p>Booze not really your thing? A little under a third of the vendors that showed up to this beer fest were restaurants.\u00a0 Vendors advertised everything from sauces to biscuits, cheeses and dairy products.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurants that came in were just as diverse: local favorites like Isaac\u2019s and Arooga\u2019s came with sandwiches and boneless wings. More recognizable chains like Red Robin came with burger bites and wraps.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_530\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-530\" style=\"width: 1005px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vispronet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Isaacs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1005\" height=\"672\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-530\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Isaac&#8217;s booth featured samplers of their signature sandwiches.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chains and established restaurants shared space with other, smaller shops, too. Hillbilly\u2019s Jerky located along the back right wall had a line stretching into the main event space for the whole three hours that the event lasted. So too did Jak Jeckel Pepper Sauce. Other vendors included Three and a Half Peppers, Clover Creek Cheese Cellar and the Mushroom Farmers of PA.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_531\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-531\" style=\"width: 1008px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-531\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vispronet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Hillbillys-Jerky.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1008\" height=\"756\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-531\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hillbilly&#8217;s Jerky was one of the Harrisburg beer fest&#8217;s more popular vendors.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Cigars and shirts and swag<\/h2>\n<p>If you wanted a cigar to go with your brew, you weren\u2019t alone. The Caravan Cigar Company booth near the show entrance was packed with people. The line snaked around the booth for the majority of the show.<\/p>\n<p>Cigars aren\u2019t everyone\u2019s thing, though. Plenty of other vendors showed up to cater to your swag needs. Wine and Beer SWAG of Greensburg had a center-area booth where they showcased items like can coolers, stealth cozies and t-shirts. They even had one that said \u201cThat\u2019s what I do. I drink beer and I know things\u201d \u2013 a riff on the famous quote from Tyrion Lannister in \u201cGame of Thrones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other apparel booths included Hop Hedz and their friends GK Visual, who showcased shirts and an apron as part of their advertising efforts for a documentary called \u201cPoured in Pennsylvania,\u201d all about the full story of the beer industry in the Keystone State, from Philadelphia to Erie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend, we went to PA Flavor to see what was what in the world of distilleries, breweries and beer.
