Kentucky State Flag Details
Show off your love for your state by displaying a Kentucky flag for sale in front of your home or building. These flags are perfect for outdoor use because the material and print are designed to last. The state flag of Kentucky is made from an outdoor-tested polyester fabric that is lightweight and knitted to prevent the material from tearing when exposed to different weather. This material is also easy to print on, resulting in striking, high-quality colors. The design is printed on one side of the fabric and the reverse image bleeds to the other side, allowing the artwork to be visible from both sides. We use a dye sublimation technique, which ingrains the ink into the material to prevent it from scratching or peeling off. Install your flag on a front porch, in front of a store, or for use in a parade by adding a pole set to your order. Choose between a wall-mounted pole kit or a handheld flagpole. These well-made KY flags are the perfect addition to outdoor and indoor décor to spread state pride.

Kentucky State Flag History
The Kentucky flag design has included the state seal since it was adopted in 1918. Kentucky’s seal was adopted in 1792, the same year the state joined the Union. The design specifications of the seal, however, were adopted in 1962 when the flag was standardized. Kentucky’s flag was created by a Frankfort art teacher, Jesse Cox Burgess. It was officially adopted as the KY state flag on March 26, 1918. A pledge for the flag of Kentucky was created in 2000.
Kentucky State Flag Meaning
State Seal: When Kentucky joined the Union, it was a frontier state, so this is signified in the seal. Two men are embracing in the seal. It’s believed the man on the left in buckskin is meant to represent Daniel Boone, because he explored Kentucky. Famous statesmen Henry Clay is said to be the suited man on the right. It can also be argued that both men represent all frontiersmen and statesmen rather than specific ones. The fact that they’re embracing represents the unity of those in the country and city, as well as Easterners and Westerners. The motto is also included in the seal, which reads, “United we stand, divided we fall.”
Blue: The deep blue color of the Kentucky flag was common for state flags around the time Kentucky’s was created.
“Commonwealth of Kentucky” and Goldenrod: The goldenrod framing represents the state’s flower. The words “Commonwealth of Kentucky” refer to the state really being a commonwealth (like Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts).
