Ecuador Flags Details

Display the Ecuadorian flag in front of your home, building, or business to show your love for the country. This flag was designed to be setup indoors and outdoors due to its long-lasting, tear-resistant polyester material. The flag design is printed on one side of the fabric and the reverse image bleeds through to the other side. This results in the pattern being visible from both sides. We print on the material using a modern dye sublimation process, which results in striking colors that will not scratch or peel off the fabric. Choose between getting the flag alone or adding on a handheld or mounted pole set to your order. The grommet finishing on the side of the flag makes setup and takedown simple and the durable material allows the flag to be displayed for an extended period. Let all passersby see your country pride with an Ecuador flag for sale.

History of the Flag of Ecuador

Ecuador used to be conquered by the Spanish and a red/white Spanish colonial flag was used for the country known as The Cross of Burgundy. When there was an independence movement in the early 1800s, a reverse red/white flag was used as the symbol of the rebels. After the movement in 1820, a new blue and white striped flag with stars in the middle was displayed. It was called the First National Flag and it became the flag of the Guayas Province.

A Second National Flag was also created with the same colors as the first one, but with one star on the top left. After this period, a new flag using a yellow, blue, and red pattern with an emblem was used. This was when Ecuador formed with Gran Colombia and the tricolors of Colombia were added to the flag. After the union seceded, the flag was still used, going through several design alterations. The Ecuador coat of arms was added in 1900, which differentiates it from the Colombian flag. The current flag of today has been the official flag since 2009 and still uses the colors from the Colombia union.

What Does the Ecuador Flag Mean

Yellow: The top stripe is meant to represent the fertility of the land and the country’s gold.

Blue: The middle stripe stands for both the ocean of the coast as well as the sky.

Red: The bottom stripe represents the blood of the men who fought for Ecuador’s independence.

Coat of Arms: The Ecuadorian coat of arms includes a shield and a condor, the national bird of Ecuador. The condor stands for protection of the country. The shield includes the peaks of Mount Chimborazo and a steamboat (the first that sailed in Latin America).
